Taking a chance on a new aquaculture industry is paying off for the owners of Australia’s largest onshore abalone operation.

A Victorian abalone farm has bounced back from the brink, hitting a production high after being wiped out by a virus just over a decade ago.

The farm near Portland is part of Yumbah Australia’s biggest onshore abalone farming operation.

And as Kerry Staight reports after a rollercoaster ride… it’s owners are being rewarded for investing in what was a risky and relatively new aquaculture industry.
